Shortcut 2 Deventer

From the ferry at Deventer (node 62) you can choose a shorter ride on the cycle path along the N344 as an alternative to the cycle node route. Realize that you will miss out on an attractive ride through beautiful nature reserves and that you will cycle along a highway. This fast route consists of two parts. This first part ‘Shortcut 2 Deventer’ goes to Hoog-Soeren west of Apeldoorn. There you return to the cycle node route.

Shortcut 3 Aardhuis

Part 2 of the alternative route on the cycle path along the N344. Approximately 2.5 km past node 9 at the Aardhuis, the junction route makes a turn to the right towards junction 5. If you choose the alternative route, continue straight along the Amerfoortseweg. At Voorthuizen (node 21) you rejoin the cycle node route.

Shortcut 4 Amersfoort

The alternative – historically most accurate – route via the cycle paths along the Utrechtseweg. When approaching the city centre of Amersfoort, leave the cycle node route and cycle straight ahead via the Langestraat to the Utrechtsestraat. After crossing the city ring road, the name changes into ‘Utrechtseweg’. At node 85 (Bosch en Duin), from Zeist the cycle node route rejoins. From there, follow node 86.

Shortcut 5 Loveren

About 1.5 km past node 79 near Baarle Nassau/Hertog, the cycle node route sends you left into the Sportlaan. A rather uninteresting tour through Baarle follows, before you end up at the place that it is actually about: the historic resting place Loveren. Queen Chistina was welcomed there in 1654 at Bruheze Castle. You can avoid the detour through Baarle along nodes 93 and 92 with this shortcut. After Loveren, continue the cycle node route via junction 80. You can find this by cycling a bit towards Ulicoten using the signpost.
